Frequently Asked Questions
What type of candle wax do you use?
All of our candles use 100%, slow-burning Coconut Apricot Luxury wax, made in California. This wax is known as a luxury wax because of its high quality ingredients.
Coconut apricot wax is made from cold-pressed coconut meat and apricot oil—from apricot pits. It’s a clean-burning, vegan wax that produces less soot and is free from parabens and phthalates. This wax is FDA approved and Proposition (Prop) 65 Compliant.
What type of wicks do you use?
Our candles use soft, crackling wood wicks that are eco-friendly and clean-burning, creating a cozy ambience in your home.
Our wood wicks are handcrafted in the USA with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood, a worldwide recognized certification. This means the wood in our wicks comes from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits.
What type of fragrance oils do you use?
We use high quality fragrance oils that are phthalate-free, often infused with essential oils, and are Prop 65 Compliant.
Most of our candles use proprietary fragrance oils and custom blends. Proprietary fragrance oils are unique to the fragrance house (maker) and are not to be replicated by other businesses.
This is unique because many fragrance oils are “duped”, or copied, by multiple businesses. The combination of proprietary fragrances and custom blends (crafted by me) means that our candle scents are different than many candles on the market.
Why do you use fragrance oils instead of essential oils?
Although essential oils are natural, they are unpredictable, and even unsafe, when used in candles. Some essential oils can release toxic fumes (carcinogens and other toxins) when burning in a candle.
In addition to safety concerns, essential oils can degrade when exposed to higher heat (like a candle flame) meaning the scent can change or disappear. Instead, we use safe, high quality fragrance oils manufactured specifically for use in candles.
What is Proposition 65?
Prop 65 is a California state law. It requires CA businesses to share if their products have chemicals known or suspected to cause cancer, birth defects, or reproductive harm.
Our materials and ingredients are Prop 65 compliant. While we're not a California-based business, we still believe in using ingredients you can feel good about lighting in your home.
